Data Entry Jobs Online In A Nutshell
How You Can Find The Real Deal

By TaSha Franklin

Online Data Entry jobs are very rare. My suggestion, go to an online job listing site. This is the best way to find the real deal. Some of these sites are free and some will charge you a registration fee for joining. I've been through a few of these sites, and my favorite by far is guru.com. They are free to join, and so easy to navigate through. You can search out jobs you're interested in, and the best part is that you can verify whether or not the employer is legit.  They post feedback and employer stats for each listing. In other words, they will tell you if someone else has taken a job with that particular employer, how much they liked it, whether or not they got paid, and the average dollar amount paid out for projects. This is so important when you're trying to sort through all the crap. Below I've included a small list of online job listing sites. If you're really serious about an online job, take the time and register to a few of these.

Some of these sites will require you to build a profile when you sign up. This gives you the opportunity to showcase your qualifications and your work experience. Some of the listings will require a skills test of some sort, which you generally have to pay for, but speak volumes on your ability. For example, most data entry jobs require that you have exceptional typing skills, and therefore will require a typing test.  You should apply for these jobs just like you would apply for any other job outside the home. Okay, so you don't necessarily need to wear a dress or a suit, but don't sell yourself short. Include a professional looking resume and/or portfolio. If you're not sure how to create a resume or portfolio, there are tons of sites out there with helpful hints to get you started. Make sure you read clearly what the qualifications and requirements are for a specific job, and be honest. If you don't have them, don't waste your time or the employers time applying for the job. Most data entry jobs can be found listed under administration support, or clerical. They are usually task specific, such as compiling email addresses, or public contact information. Some are promotional, and may include submitting information to coupon sites, or forum sites. Some require specific skills, or knowledge of specific programs, such as Excel or Word. If it's knowledge of a particular program that stands in your way, than depending on how bad you want the job, familiarize yourself with it.  I would also suggest that you make sure that your home office is equipped properly. Having remote access to your computer and keeping it free of spyware is generally a good idea and worth listing in your profile.  Some employers may require certain business software, such as a computer based faxing service.  You can find these services for as low as $8 a month. For instance RingCentral offers an Internet fax service for professionals and businesses. Everything needed to send and receive faxes from your home, office or even your mobile device, no fax machine required. Service includes a toll free or local number. Plans start at only $7.99/month.

In conclusion, finding a legitimate data entry job online is possible, you just have to know where to look. You must have the right mind set. Tell yourself, right now, it is possible to work from home, but nothing is easy! You have to work for it, just like anything else! I've listed below a few of these job listing sites if you're interested. As I said before, some are free sites, others will require a membership fee. Also, not all of these listing sites are specifically for working from home, however you can apply filters to your searches that will make it easier to sort through. If it makes you feel better, suit up, or put some makeup on and those glasses that make you look smart, and GO JOB HUNTING!!!
